Spotlight...Infamy in the Times!

Today, the Times of India has carried a piece about this blog, accusing me of attacking the judiciary.

Just to put the record straight, it was never my intention to dishonor the judiciary. If I hadn't had faith in the laws of this country, I'd never have embarked on this blog. I would have accepted that nothing can be done about injustice, bowed my head in shame and forgotten about it. But I believe in our system, to a certain degree anyway; however flawed it may be. And I believe in freedom of speech. I also believe in the integrity of judges like Justice Sujata Manohar, Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari, Justice Lentin, Justice Bhagwati, Justice Radhakrishnan...to name a few...who have left us a precious legacy of truth without fear. I have not accused the court of giving orders for money; and to accuse me of contempt of court, well, that's what I've come to expect from the Times.

In a way, I have to thank Mr. Shibu Thomas for all the publicity. I wonder if he even knows about the judges I've mentioned above...and if he knows what they stand for. Of course, he too is a man doing his job. But I see this as just another example of an ill-informed journalist of the great and illustrious Times of India trying to sensationalize something rather than reporting it and wasting newsprint on figments of imagination. Shameful, really...

the daya nayak story is only one of the major disservices our media is doing in the name of independence and investigative journalism. And we have a Press Council to govern the media.

Everyday in the papers and TV one finds sickening instances of trumped up, fabricated, or badly researched / understood articles.

Thank you for raising the revold.

this whole thing looks such a sham. some media shud try n investigate the other side of the story...instead of crucifying Daya Nayak for a case concerning disproportionate income of 41 lakhs.

There could be several reasons why they are targetting him.

He sure seems to be a victim of some rivalry within the force.

Its sickening to see continued reports on Daya Nayak's wrong doing. Why are the skeletons crumbling from the cupboards now? Even old cases where he has slightest or no involvement is being dragged out.

It’s hilarious to read TOI's report in its Sunday edition: Corporator drags Nayak, Sharma to court about a case in 2002. And this time it’s a new "reporter" Swati Deshpande who writes about how Nayak and his boss went easy on gangsters in that particular episode.

Let it be reminded, as per my knowledge, Pradeep Sharma, was the senior at CIU, followed by officers like Aslam Momin, Sachin Waze, and others. Daya Nayak was a mere PSI (continued to remain one until his suspension), and the decisions in such cases are taken by the higher ups and a not a sub inspector to press charges.
Just because Nayak happens to be high profile thanks to the media, doesn’t ensure that he has to be nailed like this.

Grow up guys at TOI - stop your witch hunting and do some serious journalism.

Yesterdays Mumbai Mirror targeted Subhash Wagal who is in the hospital undergoing treatment.

What next-- proclaim all the 600 odd encounters by the elite Encounter Specialists were fake!

Way to go Times of India, did I read Trash of India, somewhere!!

I know one Mr.B.B.Kini, a PI, who was framed by the ACB and suffered at the hands of the ACB for ten years. He belongs to a Nomadic Tribe community; and did not have the means to fight. He suffered silently. Hon.Court passed strictures against ACB for callous behaviour in this case.
For 10 long years, he was out of a job. The ACB is known for its vengeful ways and corrupt officers at all levels. Sending the Daya Nayak case to ACB, seems to be with same intention of harassment.

Hi guys,
Do u think writing court stories (that is also involving people like Salem and Daya) is very easy. If u know that a cub reporter is filing pro-stories of these people and getting bylines den shame on those who claims to b senior journalists. Even after giving table top stories she is getting bylines and quotes from the people then u have to learn the skills from that cub reporter.

This shows wat kind of work TOI people do and wat they think abt themselves. Those days are bygone wen TOI was an authority. Now it is SOLD lady of boribunder. It has been sold to many people and u know wat such women (not lady) are called……

i've never read any stories by her, maybe because its been years since i read the free press journal.
i've been thinking of updating, the media's silence is seriously bugging me now, i think someone needs to say something. let me know what you guys think.

perhaps punkprincess is an apt name for the blogger.. daya nayak will only have punks supportinghim..

if the punk happened to read times carefuly she or he or it would find that the court reporting in times was the fairest he/she/it would find..

but then i guess thats what it is about punks they are just hot air and are surounded by a similar kind..
